Jason King
I’m a web developer/designer and technology trainer who’s worked exclusively with nonprofit organisations for the last nine years.
I now live in St Kilda, Australia but until two years ago lived in the UK. I was born in High Wycombe, studied librarianship in Leeds, then moved to London. For a couple of years I lived on the narrowboat Bristol Fashion, roved around the canals and spent summer on the river Thames. I was no fixed abode and proud of it!
Freelance web developer
I’ve worked as a freelance web developer with clients from nonprofit organisations in both the UK and Australia. Here’s my web design portfolio.
Nonprofit ICT Auditor
I’m currently employed by Infoxchange Australia to do ICT audits of small nonprofits and gather data on the state of the community sector’s use of technology. This involves driving to organisations across the state of Victoria, discussing their computer capabilities and their information needs and making recommendations in plain English.
Website and Intranet editor
Before Infoxchange I worked at Baptcare as their website and Intranet editor and redesigner. I also planned the implementation of their new training records database.
Circuit rider
In West London I ran the circuit rider project at HAVS for seven years. A circuit rider is a roving IT worker with a caseload of small nonprofit organisations. This model of tech support orginated in the US and has since been implemented in the UK and, more recently, Australia.
