Connecting Up in Brisbane
The Connecting Up conference is a nonprofit technology event that’s being held in Brisbane this year, from 19th to 20th May. It’ll be my first visit to Brisbane and I’m really looking forward to a short holiday. There’s an excellent line-up of speakers and some really interesting topics going to be discussed.
I’ll be presenting on the topic of planning your nonprofit website’s development so here’s an outline of the workshop.
Website projects, whether new builds or redesigns, benefit from good planning, and in this workshop you’ll learn how to manage your site’s development.
You’ll hear about some real-life not-for-profit web disasters caused by poor planning - and how you can learn from their mistakes. Then we’ll look at examples of good practice in the sector and get some tips on how to make your own projects run more smoothly.
Jason will also demonstrate free and low-cost online tools, checklists and resources you can use to:
- collaborate with colleagues and designers, set deadlines and track the progress of tasks;
- create simple site maps and diagrams to visualise your needs;
- give your existing website a health and accessibility check; and
- assess and improve your website’s performance.
