Adam King, spoon carver

Adam King's website was designed by Jason King

Adam is a besom broom maker, spoon carver and woodturner. He wanted a website to advertise his availability for craft shows and demonstrations, and to help sell his carved spoons. It had to be attractive, simple and accessible and easy for Adam to edit himself.

There has been a huge increase in the number of orders for spoons and PayPal is used to enable customers to pay online.

Adam’s in control

The website is made up of static html pages designed using a Dreamweaver template. I taught Adam to use Adobe Contribute software to edit the content. After a couple of hours’ training he was adding all the new pages and text and pictures himself.

The pictures

It’s realy helpful to be able to use professionally-taken photos. The photos have been cropped to fit in the banner at the top of the page or in the right-hand column of text.

CSS layout

This website uses cascading styles sheets to create the layout, not tables. HTML is used only to mark up the content of the page; the CSS file contains all of the instructions about style, including how wide columns should be and where they are to be placed on-screen.
